A world of polar opposites
Bipolar disorder can be a frightening experience. In mania your mood can be expansive, but exciting – everything is is coloured by an incessant and unlimited drive, and you feel fantastic.
You no longer need to sleep, or not so much. Your thoughts lead on rapidly from one fantastic idea to another while music can transport you into a state of ecstasy. You talk rapidly, happiness is infinite and you are elated and excited.
Depression is the polar opposite. It creeps into your life, your body feel slightly different, you feel a strange sort of vulnerability, you begin to worry, and you avoid contact with family or friends. The basic symptoms of depression are feeling sad and unhappy with a decreased ability to sleep, decreased energy, reduced speech, poor concentration and memory, negative thinking, and very pessimistic and, in some cases, suicidal thoughts.
At present, there is no cure for Bipolar disorder, but The Bipolar Organisation in Somerset can provide training to learn how to successfully manage the condition. If you would like further information, feel free to contact us.
